National Archives
It’s no easy task to organize a site for an entity known for archiving all of the nations important documents, but Accella was up to the task.
It’s no easy task to organize a site for an entity known for archiving all of the nations important documents, but Accella was up to the task.
The first step in redesigning a site like the Archives is getting a handle on content and making a plan for migration. Accella worked with the Archives and Viderity to plan for the migration of both content and core features of the existing site into Drupal.
There’s no doubt that 2015 was the year of responsive design. With a directive from Google to mobilize websites or face the wrath of the search giant and the increasing analytical evidence that consumers engagement on mobile is only growing, the mobilization of the Archives site was a top priority.
Based on the amount and variety of site content, the identification and categorization of content for enhanced searchability was a key component of the redesign. Leveraging tools such as Apache SOLR and taxonomies, Accella built a web infrastructure that enhanced the accessibility and visibility of content throughout the site.
