The Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS® (NVAR), in partnership with Accella, has been recognized with a 2026 ASAE Gold Circle Award for the NVAR Member App — an AI-powered mobile experience redefining how associations engage and support their members in a digital-first world. 

Presented by ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership, the Gold Circle Awards honor the most innovative and impactful marketing, membership, and communications initiatives across the association industry. This year’s winners were selected from more than 150 submissions spanning organizations nationwide. 

For Accella, the recognition validates a broader shift occurring across associations: member experience is no longer confined to websites and email communications. Members expect personalized, real-time, mobile-first engagement that fits seamlessly into their daily workflows.

For NVAR, that meant rethinking what an association app could be.

Building a Member Experience for How REALTORS® Actually Work

Launched in 2025, the NVAR Member App was designed to support more than 13,000 real estate professionals who operate in an always-on, highly mobile environment.

The vision was ambitious from the start: Create an intelligent, personalized member experience that delivers the right information, tools, and resources at the exact moment members need them.

Rather than treating the app as a companion to the website, NVAR and Accella approached it as an extension of the association itself — placing membership services directly into REALTORS®’ pockets.

The app combines mobile convenience with AI-powered personalization, allowing members to:

  • Register for continuing education courses and events
  • Access legal resources and FAQs
  • Receive real-time market updates and breaking industry news
  • View personalized dashboards based on role and behavior
  • Purchase products through the REALTOR® Shop
  • Manage memberships, licenses, registrations, and benefits
  • Receive targeted push notifications and advocacy alerts

At the core of the experience is a dynamic AI-generated overview that adapts to each user’s profile, location, professional role, and engagement behavior. Brokers, agents, and affiliate members all receive tailored experiences relevant to how they work.

The Results: Rapid Adoption and Meaningful Engagement

Within its 6 months, the app exceeded adoption and engagement expectations, including:

  • More than 3,150 active REALTOR® users
  • Over 400,000 in-app interactions
  • More than 2,000 event registrations completed through the app
  • Significant engagement with market statistics and member content
  • Mobile dues renewal adoption among members
  • Continued growth in daily and monthly active users

Beyond the metrics, the app fundamentally changed how members interact with NVAR — enabling REALTORS® to complete essential tasks anytime, anywhere, directly from their mobile devices.

The project also received multiple industry recognitions prior to the ASAE Gold Circle Award, including:

  • 2026 Gold AVA Digital Award
  • 2025 Silver Vega Digital Award
  • 2025 Gold dotCOMM Digital Award
